Nissan Formula E Team is delighted to announce its affiliation with sunglasses and apparel company Coral Eyewear, on a multi-year deal.
The partnership will see Coral Eyewear supply its distinctive products, crafted using recycled plastic and plant-based materials, to all Nissan Formula E Team members throughout the 2023/24 campaign and beyond. In addition, the marque will release special edition Nissan Formula E Team sunglasses, decorated with team colors and logos, ahead of the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix at the end of March.
Coral Eyewear is a natural partner for Nissan Formula E Team, as both brands share a commitment to sustainability while never compromising on quality. This collaboration will also allow the Japanese squad and its drivers Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz to harness the exposure that the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship generates, to promote sustainable fashion to audiences around the world.
Founded in 2019 by George and Calvin Bailey, Coral Eyewear aims to provide stylish, luxury eyewear while using recycled and plant-based production methods. The innovative idea attracted the attention of English television presenter Jake Humphrey, who has since invested in the young company.
There is attention to environmental responsibility in every step of the marque's production and distribution process. They are the first British brand to use ECONYLⓇ regenerated nylon in their eyewear, which is hand-made in their factory in Italy. The cutting-edge polymer prevents 65,100 tons of CO2eq emissions for every 10,000 tons of raw material spent, leading to a 90% reduction in environmental impact when compared to oil-based nylon. Recycled paper and PET are used in all the label's packaging and glasses cloths, and their delivery partner, DPD, operates 1,600 electric vehicles across the UK, ensuring sustainability from factory floor to final delivery.
Nissan's electric road vehicles offer customers performance and reliability with minimal environmental impact, and Formula E provides motorsport fans with the atmosphere and thrill of motor racing while remaining net zero carbon. With the squad's merchandise using environmentally friendly materials such as recycled polyester and bamboo, the two partners also share a mission to promote green fashion.
