Rowland takes his first win of Season 12 during frantic E-Prix

Nissan Formula E Team executed a perfect strategy to claim victory on the streets of Monaco today during Round 10 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, as Oliver Rowland moved up from eighth to secure success in Monte-Carlo.

In this morning’s qualifying, Rowland progressed to the Duels to secure eighth on the grid, while teammate Norman Nato narrowly missed out by just 0.017 seconds, starting just behind in ninth.

Rowland saved energy well during the first part of the E-Prix and waited for the opportunity to move forward, which came on Lap 20, when he took his final six minutes of Attack Mode. An excellent strategy from the team allowed the Brit to make his way up into the lead of the race within just three laps of activating his Attack Mode. He then expertly controlled the remainder of the event, wrapping up his and the team’s first victory of Season 12, also securing an additional point for fastest lap.

On the other side of the garage, Nato showed solid early pace as he battled inside the top 10. However, at the end of Lap 5 coming through the final corner, the Frenchman was pushed into the barrier by another car, suffering race ending damage.

Formula E returns on 19-20 June with a first visit to Sanya since 2019.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: “We’re delighted to win for the second year running in Monaco. It was an amazing strategy along with a dominant drive from Oli as he made his way up expertly from eighth. Norman had his race compromised early on, again through no fault of his own, which is a shame because we could’ve scored strong points with both cars today. This weekend has represented our season so far, with the first day being unfortunate and the second E-Prix showing what we can do. I’m confident that Oli’s victory can help us unlock our potential heading into the second half of the campaign, as we aim for more consistent performances.”

Oliver Rowland

“I’m so pleased to secure my first win of the season and it’s very special to take victory in Monaco again! It was a crazy race with a lot of drivers starting out at such a high pace. I knew we had to remain disciplined and stick to our plan as well as staying out of trouble. I was always confident throughout the race as the team kept me well informed and we took the second Attack Mode at the perfect time. It’s been an up and down first half of the season, but I know if we can improve in qualifying then we’ll be fighting towards the front for the remainder of the year.”

Norman Nato

“We qualified better today and I only missed out on the Duels by 0.017 seconds so ended up starting P9. Oli and I worked well together in the opening laps as we saved energy and maintained our positions. Unfortunately, I was pushed into the barrier at the final corner on Lap 5, forcing me to retire, which was a shame after such a positive start. It’s frustrating as we had a good strategy and will never know where we could’ve finished today. Congratulations to Oli for the victory! I’m confident that we can turn it around and score big points in the upcoming races.”
