British driver continues development at Circuit Ricardo Tormo

Nissan Formula E Team’s rookie and simulator driver, Abbi Pulling, showed her strong pace in the second-ever all-women’s Formula E test in Valencia, finishing second in both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Following four successful days of testing with official race drivers Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato, Friday’s running gave the team a chance to continue its test program, while also enabling Pulling to continue her development at the wheel of the Nissan e-4ORCE 05.

The F1 Academy champion, who was taking part in her third official outing for Nissan Formula E Team, completed 89 laps of Circuit Ricardo Tormo, setting a best lap time of 1:22:831. The British driver executed a variety of different programs, ranging from race runs to performance laps and pit stop training, benefitting her progress and the team, as it continues to build towards the opener in São Paulo.

The day’s events brought Pre-Season Testing to a close, with the team set to return to the track for Round 1 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in São Paulo, Brazil, on 6 December.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: “It was a very productive day, and we’re pleased with Abbi’s performance and all the work she put in. It was her third outing in the car and she’s making a lot of progress each time, which is great to see. We focused on multiple aspects today, including elements for the team such as Pit Boost practice as well as for Abbi’s technique and performance. She provided good feedback to our engineers, managed to set the second fastest time of the day and got much more confident with the car, so it was a very positive and useful experience overall. This is a difficult track when it comes to putting all the sectors together, but her times were strong throughout and she improved significantly in multiple aspects in just a few hours, which is definitely a great sign for the future.”

“I’m really pleased with the work I did today, and to set the second-quickest time in both sessions is a strong result. One of my personal targets was to break into the 1:22s, regardless of what everyone else would do, and I’m delighted that we managed to do that! I also wanted to improve my technique during race simulation in terms of energy management, which I definitely achieved. It’s a physically demanding track, but we made good progress on our previous work in terms of long runs and qualifying laps, in addition to the Pit Boost training, which will be useful for the team moving forward. I’m feeling more comfortable in the car every time I drive it and I’m enjoying it a lot - these cars are incredibly complex but a lot of fun to drive. A big thanks to the all the team for today, I had a great time and I’m looking forward to the next opportunity.”
