The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship kicks off its all-new Gen3 era with the Mexico City ePrix on 14 January. Returning to the historical Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the sixth time, the opening round of Season 9 will give fans a chance to see the new dawn of Formula E in action as the drivers compete to make a strong start to the season.
The championship first visited the historic circuit in 2016 and has been a feature on the calendar in every year apart from 2021, when the race was temporarily replaced by the Puebla ePrix. The 2.63-km circuit boasts sweeping turns and long straights, as well as a unique section where drivers enter and exit the famous Foro Sol stadium through Turns 12 – 17, before taking on the iconic Peraltada corner towards the end of the lap.
Holding the record of being the highest circuit on the calendar at 2,250 meters above sea level, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is loved by drivers and fans thanks to its fast-flowing and challenging layout.
Sacha Fenestraz impressed many on his debut for the team, qualifying for the Duels and running in the points for most of the race before a late energy issue.
